This Doesn’t Feel Like My Golf Swing
You know your golf swing.
You've felt it thousands of times.
Which is why this is so confusing.
The swing you're making...
Doesn't feel like yours anymore.
The shots might still be good sometimes.
You may even have a great hole...
Or a great round.
But something feels different.
Not just the result.
The swing itself.
That's the part you can't explain.
You know what your swing is supposed to feel like.
This...
Isn't it.
Naturally, you assume something in your swing changed.
After all...
If it doesn't feel like your swing...
What else could it be?
Why It Feels So Different
A familiar skill doesn't suddenly become unfamiliar for no reason.
But unfamiliar doesn't always mean you've lost it.
One of the hardest things for skilled players to recognize is that the feeling of a swing and the ability to produce a swing are not always the same thing.
The swing you've built over years of practice can still be there...
Even when it no longer feels familiar.
That's why players become trapped.
They're trying to get a feeling back...
Instead of understanding why the feeling changed in the first place.
The search becomes:
"How do I make my swing feel normal again?"
But that's often the wrong search.
The feeling changed.
That part is real.
The question is...
Why?
Sometimes what you're experiencing isn't the loss of your swing.
It's the experience of a swing that no longer feels the way it once did.
Those are not the same problem.
And if they're not the same problem...
They shouldn't have the same solution.
What the Research Shows
Research suggests that highly learned motor skills are rarely erased but can become more difficult to access when attention, pressure, or performance conditions change. Studies in motor learning and performance under pressure help explain why skilled players often experience a familiar movement as feeling different, even though the underlying skill remains available.
Research: Schmidt & Lee (Motor Learning and Performance); Beilock (Choke); Wulf (Attention and Motor Learning)

Ready to Train Differently?
If your swing suddenly doesn't feel like your swing...
Don't assume you've lost it.
First ask a different question.
Why does it feel different?
The answer to that question may determine whether you're about to solve the real problem...
Or spend months trying to fix the wrong one.
